Eighty percent of learning comes through vision. Our team, led by Dr. Thadshika Parthipan, has been looking after that for Guelph and Rockwood families since 2011.
Two clinics, one standard of care
From general check-ups to the treatment of complex eye problems, our team is dedicated to our patients and to sorting out issues quickly rather than sending you away to wait and see.
Dr. Parthipan established the practice in Rockwood in early 2011, and opened the Guelph clinic the following year. The Rockwood office sits on Main Street North just off Highway 7; the Guelph office is at the junction of Starwood Drive and Grange Road, close to the Big Bear Food Mart.
Both are equipped with the latest optometry technology, in-office lens edging and a fully stocked optical store, so your exam, frame selection and fitting all happen in the same place.

Meet the doctors
Dr. Thadshika Parthipan
Dr. Parthipan received her Optometry and Visual Science degree from City University, London, UK in 2006, then practised in England, where she was recognised for clinical excellence with the Opticians Magazine Award for Best Clinical Skills Practice.
She trained extensively in binocular vision and paediatric care at Central Middlesex Hospital, working alongside optometrists and ophthalmologists. In 2010 she relocated to Guelph and completed her Canadian training at the University of Waterloo, establishing the Rockwood practice in early 2011 and the Guelph practice the year after.
She is a member of the College of Optometrists and the Ontario Association of Optometrists, and sits on the Board of Directors of the East Wellington Family Health Team. She is accepting new patients of all ages.
Dr. Shalini Vettivelu
Raised in Guelph, Dr. Vettivelu earned an Honours Science degree in Genetics followed by her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. She completed an Ocular Disease & Therapeutics externship at the Montgomery Veterans Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma, managing glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and ocular emergencies.
She is passionate about gold standard eye care and volunteers her time providing free eye exams to impoverished communities and to people at risk of homelessness.
Outside the office you’ll find her chasing after two energetic young boys, or unwinding with a true crime documentary. The thrill of solving a mystery never gets old.
Coordinators and opticians
The people who book you in, sort your billing, fit your frames and fix them when you sit on them.
Tricia Dorscht
Tricia has been with the practice since the Rockwood clinic opened in 2011. She greets and registers patients, answers the phones, arranges appointments and handles billing for both locations, drawing on more than 30 years in office administration.
If you have a request or a concern, she is the person to ask. Outside work she’s reading, cooking, gardening or shopping, and she’s a firm believer that a smile and a kind word can change someone’s day.
Stephanie Sims
Stephanie welcomes and registers patients at the Guelph office, answers calls, books appointments and looks after billing. Born and raised in Guelph, she’s proud to call it home.
When she isn’t working she’s travelling or at the cottage with family. She’s happy to answer any question you have about your visit.
Rachel Dobson
Rachel graduated from the University of Guelph with an Honours degree in Biological Sciences and from the Optician Program at Seneca College. She has worked in the optical industry since 2006.
In our office she handles pre-testing, frame selection, contact lens teaching, lens fabrication, repairs and adjustments. Her favourite part of the job is helping each patient find their perfect pair.
